I feel so dumb but now I see!

Ok so while recording the podcast today I mentioned Sorcerer Hunter and messed up with the story. I am a horrible nerd omg! I mixed SH with maze. But while we are on the subject it took me an hour but I found this!
The ending to Maze! This was the first anime I owned in Japanese. It was of course on VHS oh the days.
This brought back soo many memories. I want to go back and re-watch all these old animes.

Current State of MMO's

So I don't know how many of my fellow N3RDS here play MMO'S but I for one am extremely disappointed with the current state of MMO's. WoW currently while boasting of over 12 million subscribers is having a mass debate on their forums over the state of their newest expansion. You either love it or you hate it. With their newest content patch in the works it will be a deciding factor if Blizzard will continue to be a juggernaut or if it will finally start to decline. Time will tell how this patch will be received. On another note I recently had a chance to play the Rifts Beta. Rifts is like many other previous released MMO's in the past a supposed WoW killer. However after spending a few weeks of Beta testing it I feel that its not going to be any better then the past Fantasy type MMO's that were suppose to kill WoW. The game play and style of Rifts smacks to much of being like WoW. The only possible MMO to maybe put a dent into WoW is the upcoming Star Wars Kotor MMO. I admit to being fully bias in my hopes for it due to being a HUGE Star Wars fan. However from what has been released of the game play style my hopes are being crushed. Its not a MMO in the classical sense of the term due to mostly single play and no real end game to speak of just missions of needing buddies to do that is it. So in the long run recapping I think the only way WoW will be killed is if it kills its self and at the rate Blizzard is treating their cash cow that is WoW it may be sooner then later. Til then I will continue being one its loyal 12 million subscribers cause in my opinion its still by far the best MMO on the market even with its current faults.

Where doing it man, Where MAKING THIS HAPPEN

Wtf is there anything this guy does that's NOT being a total nerd?

Answer: No.

But yeah I am Orchestral, I am the new guy. It's me.

I figured I would write a little hello to all of the nerds out there, warn everyone about the dangers of stairs, set a bar for how many Homestuck references I can make in one post.

You'll probably be hearing from me in the future.

>Orchestral: Cut the crap get on with the posting.

Alright, alright!

Jeeeeeeeez...

So if my nickname, Orchestral, weren't any indication, music is kind of my thing. I could and probably will dedicate many of my posts to exploring the music of nerd culture. We'll see. I have so many interests. So many you have no idea. They range from anything to EVERYTHING. And lemme tell you the opinions I have on them. All of the opinions. All of them.

I'm going to stop there before this gets to be a novel.

See ya next time

P.S. Eight Homestuck references.

Youtube post one!

Say hi to me! Here i mention where my new nickname comes from and umm yeah just me! Hope you enjoy our new addition!

ThunderCats the remake

So as we all seen there's a new thundercats series on the works ,now hold on for one moment there we all want to find out desperately with this new series is about and so do I.  I'm here today to talk to you about the the people and studios that are working on this new series and a little bit on the back story one who owned  then at the time let's have a look shall we.

Thundercats started in the 1985 The series was made by the same people that made SilverHawks & TigerSharks animated series which were all produced by Rankin/Bass' then-parent company Telepictures Corporation, which would later merge with Lorimar Productions in 1986.In 1989, Lorimar-Telepictures was purchased by and folded into Warner Bros which is still licensed to them to this very day.
The anime studio that is working on it is Studio 4°C which are no strangers to the US they have contributed to the Halo legends series in the episode called the babysitter which is a short portraying the relationship between the Spartans and the ODSTs and have also made Batman: Gotham Knight. and on the anime style of  it is actually looks rather decent .
I mean serious look at how awesome this looks!
Seriously this is a really big jump from the 1980s version Lion-O doesn't look like a clown on steroids and the rest well they just look better and the best part is no more tights! I know that fans will be complaining that this new look too "Japanese animu style" but it just works with today's style, you see as long as they get to mean story points in this new series like how Lion-O got his sword and how they became the group then you still have the main key points and climactic scenes which made the series great in the first place.

* just a side note you can't tell me that that you  prefer this...

over this little guy ! seriously look at him, he looks more Pokémon but who is complaining there! I do like this new version of snarf its way more appealing in the 1980s one, now let's just hope he doesn't talk! *
Now in my last point  about the American writers for this series I'm proud to say it is a pretty good pedigree of writers for it .The first man is Sam Register formerly Senior Vice President of Cartoon Network  He was the creator of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi and served as the co-producer of Teen Titans and Ben 10. He also serves as executive producer  Ben 10: Alien Force and for this god-awful series called "Transformers: Animated" I really didn't like it at all. next up is Ethan Spaulding  Who directed  twelve episodes on the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender & Green Lantern: First Flight , but Frum looks of it he will be the producer for the series as well as  Michael Jelenic who worked on  Batman: The Brave and the Bold & DC Showcase: Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam ,who which will also be a producer for the series as well.

For those that haven't seen here is the upcoming thriller for thundercats from cartoon network

I for one has high hopes for this series.

Greetings

Well I have been convinced to join here to help Blog about everything nerdy and great so as I have time I will be posting my rants. Til then must get back to nerding out to WoW.

New youtube!

Yay we now have an offical youtube!!!
Just like here it needs a make over! Many of our bloggers will also make vlogs! The vlogs will be more often than the pod cast hopefully. So far the pod cast I believe will be weekly and recorded on Mondays. We just got done recording one not to long ago. It was my first time doing a podcast so I was very excited. I do realize though that many staff members of this blog can't make it to where we hold the pod cast (school) so I wanted to make a spot where they can post solo videos or convention coverage and of course we will post all the videos on the blog site (here).
*my grammar is all over the place today! School overload! O.O*
So since I am in a library right now i will make a video when I get home tonight. I may not look the best but it will be done!

As always if you have any suggestions on what we should cover or if you want to make a con report contact us!

We now also have an offical email!!

N3RDCORE FOR L1FE!

I'm gonna share something with you folks. As much as I am a proud geek, I do dabble in 'non-nerd' interests here and there. I follow basketball, football, and boxing. Another area I have a passion for is hip-hop. Now you've probably heard of Nerdcore Hip-Hop, where geekstas like ourselves can express our passion over some equally nerdy beats. But let's be honest, I don't see Nerdcore cracking the Top-40, nor do I really want it to.

Anyway, for the most part, Nerdcore has been a niche market where only hardcore geeks can get the references. Here today is one possible exception. Random AKA Mega Ran has teamed up with Lost Perception to release the Black Materia LP.

Yes, a hip-hop concept album based on the classic JRPG Final Fantasy VII. Whats amazing is not only do the lyrics follow the story, it sounds phenomenal. It brings it back to the 90's hip-hop scene of A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. Will it be a crossover hit? Probably now, but for now check it out this tracked sampled from Tifa's Theme titled "Tifa"

sunnys first video game review

theres something about simulator games that makes them as famous as they are today. its the idea of another life to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of our real lives. the talented folks at natsume have always found ways to make games that have no end, no real objective, and no real motivation, be top sellers. one of their more famous series is the harvest moon franchise. sense 1996 when the first harvest moon game showed up for the SNES, natsume has been making slight tweeks in each game to make them feel slightly different.
they are a great example of the process of getting it right the first time and not messing with it, not to many game company's can say they have been successfulness using the same concept over and over. its hard for any other game to make, growing crops, raising animals, and making friends with virtual characters so much fun. hello everyone im sunny and this is my review of harvest moon "the grand bazaar".

these are the two main characters, of course you can only play as one of them, there are not too many differences between them aside from gender and some cut scenes.

welcome zephyr town, the home to what was once the most popular bazaar in the world (bazaar is a marketing area, much like farmers markets), unfortunately, due to the lose of the town farmer, zephyr town has lost its popularity, once you get to your farm your objective becomes clear, make the bazaar as famous as it once was. this is done in the same fashion as all the other harvest moon games, plant crops, raise animals, make money. looking at this map you can already tell that there isent much to explore. in past harvest moon games there are hidden areas, that lead to new places and things to see. there is only one hidden area in the game, and unless your trying to marry the most difficult girl possible its not worth going to.

unfortunately there is no shipping box and no guy that picks it up every day, you make money buy selling items that you find or grow at your weekly bazaar. this is a very different idea that natsume has laid out for you. instead of making daily money you make weekly money. as simple as it sound this make the game very challenging to make make money. you will spend 7-8 days collecting items in the nature, growing crops, and collecting as much as you can to make money during the bazaar, at then end of the weekly bazaar you will be ranked, along with you city. if you need a little money and the bazaar is too many days away you can sell items at the local shop, but the shop owners dont give you as much as you would get from selling them at the bazaar.

growing crops is a little different, you can grow them the traditional way. plant them, water them, pick them out of the ground. but the new quality system makes you work a little more for your money. for example the stars in the picture above represent quality in the plant, if grown properly they can have 1 to one 1 and a half stars, this depends on the quality of the seeds which are also ranked by quality, half star seeds will grow 1 star turnip if you add fertilizer when growing them, you will find yourself constantly growing things that only grow once like turnips, carrots and cabbage because they grow the fastest, crops that produce more then once take longer to grow and in the end are not worth the effort. it sound difficult but its something you pick up quick.

animals produce there share of daily produce, cows make milk, sheep give wool, chickens give eggs, the quality of your animals produce depends their love for you, talk to them, feed them, brush them, take them outside on nice days, and you will see their affection go up along with the quality of what they produce. this is the best way to make money, because they produce daily.

aside from the bazaars, zephyr town is famous for its windmills. these windmills will become your greatest ally. you can use them to make higher quality items and crops, or convert items. for example, put in a 2 star quality turnip and you get a 2 star quality bag of turnip seeds, once you grow them into 3 star quality turnips you can convert them into 3 star seeds ect ect ect. or if you want to use the nature to your advantage you can put a beehive into a windmill and make honey. everything from converting to upgrading takes in game time to make this can be sped up depending on the weather, on windy days the windmills work much fasters. and on days with no wind they create slower, this can be sped up by blowing into the DS mic, and making the windmills spin faster.

when your not spending most of the day finding items and growing stuff, you can talk to the locals, i was a but bummed out when i found out how small the city population was, and how little development there is with a lot of the characters, there are between 23-26 characters if i recall, and you will only care about half of them. those few you care about will often times be the opposite sex that you want to marry and the people related to them, or just know them. for some character you are required to make friends with family members before unlocking then next heart event, which makes the experience feel more like work then interaction. you are the only person in this town that can get married, sure each male/female has there own significant other, but only within a few scenes. which makes you care less about the towns people seeing as they never develop with anyone else but you.

i dont want to call this game bad because its not, its fun, time consuming, and keeps up with the harvest moon traditions that i fell in love with 13 years ago on the N64. but it feels like they focused on one concept and rushed the rest. the grand bazaar was a great idea but the process of making money is very challenging and time consuming, even once you sold all your crops and items, you instantly invest in new crops and items. and begin working for the next bazaar. its fun, but challenging, original, but not very creative, theres a lot to do, but not enough to explore. if your looking for a challenging and time consuming farming sim, this one is right up your ally. if your looking for a farming sim with a little more to do outside of farming i dont recommend this one

i give harvest moon grand bazaar 6.5 bucket hats out of 10

New spot for X-Men anime!

http://www.animax.co.jp/marvelanime/x-men/

From the looks of things, it seems like they might be starting with the orignal "Astonishing X-Men" roster with the addition of Storm early on. Could be that they might have the original cast from the 90 animated series which would be cool too, but we'll see. Makes me miss it and want to watch my dvds. No, no time! MvC3 still calls!

also let me know if the size is not big enough. if its not ill do some editing on a random computer i can get my hands on. and fix it

Tekken Tag Tournament 2!

Its like I've said a million times, after 3 Tekken games, a tag should come out, its the formula for it! So it would be expected that we finally get one after 6, and we did! Its nice to see such as full roster and maybe the possible return of Jun Kazama? We'll just have to wait and see...

Hammer Time!

MvC3 - Yeah, pretty much :p

Wonder Woman takes over M.A.C

Here is my girly post! I found out the other day that M.A.C Cosmetics (a make up brand) now sells Wonder Woman make up.
I fan girled pretty hard until I saw the prices. Makes me remember why I sell Avon XD.
M.A.C Cosmetics has amazing quality make up and now putting the most influential female comic book hero on it they will be getting a lot of nerdy girls wanting to buy this make up to collect. Perhaps they will try it and experience a new type of art that many women are into.
If you go on the M.A.C site http://www.maccosmetics.com/index.tmpl their main page has Wonder Woman all over and has an interesting flash comic set up. The collection can be found here http://www.maccosmetics.com/whats_new/4782/index.tmpl
Their cheapest item is fake eye lashes at $14.00 and their most expensive is the Wonder Woman utility belts, which are just make up bags with brushes in them. These items are $49.50.
Online you can also buy t-shirts and tote bags. Personally I want everything is this collection. You can tell Wonder Woman is one of my favorites!
So fella's if you have a geeky/nerdy girlfriend or want to show that special girl that she is beautiful I suggest picking this up. I know I would love it.
DND nerding out!

Now more than ever!

As usual I have my gripes with Mavel films lately. I couldn't stop complaining about the Wolverine Origins movie enough. Oh, I'm still a big fan of the mutant with "adamantium rage", but the choice of movie stories have another thing coming from them. I can see that they would be going with the "First Class" of mutants for this film, but to me, being the comic book nut I am, Xavier's first class only consisted of Scott, Jean, Bobby, Warren, and Hank. But I guess today in the world of Hollywood and Disney/Marvel, they have to fill these films with more than just the original five and unfortunately opting out all of them except for Hank.

http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/125985-the-x-men-first-class-trailer

Speaking of the original five, does anyone miss Cyclops not being the the new Marvel VS Capcom 3? I mean, they have a good number of X-Men in there but not their field commander? I remember playing X-Men: Children of the Atom back on my Saturn and having him as one of my mains. Plus, an inside joke with my group of friends, whenever Cyke would use his optic blasts, instead of saying "optic blast" or something like that, I would always scream out "JEAN!" "JEAN!" And seriously, Jean is in MvC3 and he isn't? You think an awesome team would be him, Wolvie, and Jean, or at least put the family back together with Cyke, Jean, and Cable...Hopefully he'll be available as DLC.

Which reminds me, I always loved this Japanese intro for the animated cartoon for X-Men and the love conflict with Jean, Cyke, and Wolvie.

Sure, Dani thinks this cute, but I could rant on how wrong the powers are being used here...

Well, until next time, or at least I can figure out how to make a better outro, laters!

Long live Rock Band!

With nothing stopping the juggernaut that is Rock Band, there are other games that get trampled in the madness. Guitar Hero, the former powerhouse and the start of the "plastic guitar revolution" is now going the ways of the dinosaur. We'll miss you Guitar Hero, some more than others, some less.

http://blog.games.yahoo.com/blog/374-activision-axes-guitar-hero-franchise/

Yay Bacon!

In the past couple of months there has been this game om my cell phone that has taken many hours of my life. Usually I would say this is Tetris but no it is in fact Angry Birds. Angry Birds is a flash based game created by Rovio for Apple and Android devices. In this game there is a group of birds who get their eggs stolen by some pigs. The birds go out on a vengeance and attack the pigs.
The game play is fairly simple you have birds in a sling shot and you aim them at structures that the pigs built.

Different birds have different specials and work better in certain situations.
At home there are two versions of this game that I play. The Apple version and the Android version. The game play and story is exactly the same but on my Android device this game LAGS!! And when I say lags it is horrible. (worse than the Tekken 6 loading screen)
Sometimes I won't even touch my phone because I knwo I want to play it but don't want to deal with it.

Better now than never, Mike here, a.k.a. LazyAss24Seven. Living up to my name, one day at a time. Anyways, I'll leave the randomness here whenever I can when it comes to videogames, comics, anime, manga, and current events and such. Until next time!

Wow...my childhood was pretty stupid...

button masher's introduction

Hello everyone my name is button masher and I'm here to introduce myself. I will be talking to you about several things but mostly the strange and odd but wonderful things in Japan. However just because I'm intrigue in the nerd culture does not mean that I approve of most of which was going on in the major studios and companies which is why I'm also going to also talking about the marketing and importing and exporting  .yes that does mean I will be ranting on about it but there's nothing wrong with a little constructive criticism even though they is a pretty big industry that does not mean that there is room for improvement.
I'll also be talking about video games. Not a lot but only on the ones that deserve a second look and the really big blockbuster games, you know what movies as well ,not a lot though I don't mind spending money on awful movies or awful games and anime at all! So here's looking at you

Auggie's Awesome(?) Moments In Anime - G Gundam

So for a random weekly column...article...type...thing...I decided to showcase some of the most awesome (though your mileage may vary) moments in anime. Granted most of these will consists of OVA's from the early 90's before anime was prevalent and over saturated in the states. Back when it was a nerd only market. Most of these were cheaply made OVA's that bombed in Japan, but were inexpensive to bring over here. With hilarious dubs that consists of poor castings as well as unnecessary profanity, you're given pure riffing gold...

Careful, vampire bites will leave glitter on the end of said dick. Gundammit Edward

Anyway, enough of the intro, let's move on to this week's moment shall we? Back in 2002 anime hit the plateau in tv broadcasting. Toonami was on a roll, bringing classics like Rouroni Kenshin, Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, and much much more. Then they decided to air one of the most over the top shows yet. A standalone universe in the Gundam series, G Gundam.

Take it away ANN summary!

In the Year FC 60, much of mankind inhabits space colonies which orbit the Earth. Dominance over the colonies is decided once every four years by a large tournament in which each nation sends a single representative to fight the others with a giant robot called a Gundam. Domon Kashuu is selected to represent Neo-Japan in one of these tournaments, but he fights less to ensure his nation's victory than to find his brother, who has been blamed for the deaths of Domon's parents and the disappearance of a very dangerous weapon, the Dark Gundam or Devil Gundam.

Mexico's "Tequila Gundam" ...Dear lord...

...Why does it have mustache? Yeah, I think this was more of a shonen fight anime parody with giant robots. I mean, did anyone actually design this without thinking about the fall out?

"Hmm...Mexican Gundam...it needs cactus arms, a sombrero, and we'll call it the Tequila Gundam!"

"Um sir...don't you think that's a bit...racist?"

"Nah, now help me come up with a design for Denmark's...I got it! A giant fish suit!"

If you haven't checked it out yet...do it. And watch it dubbed, and die laughing. Anyway, I think I've rambled on enough. This clip is the most memorable part of the show for me. It's from the final episode so SPOILERS!

Yep...that just happened.

Super bowl Marvel comercials

Not many people now a days actually watch the super bowl for the game. I know the only reason I watch it for the commercials. For some odd reason though this year didn't seem as amusing to me as the others. Two good commercials though were the Marvel movie commercials.
The first commercial was Thor and the second was Captain America.

I think more of my friends are excited for Captain America than Thor. I don't know which one to be more excited for.. Is that bad?

Auggie's Awesome Awesomeness! Or, Obligatory Introduction Post

Evening ladies and gentlemen, Daniel "Auggie Buya" Agbuya here to begin his soul consuming foray into the harsh world of internet blogging. Okay maybe I'm being a bit overly dramatic. Well first thing you should know is that I'm a born and proud geek. I may not be as fanatical as my nerdy brethren...

Translation: Haters gonna hate...

but I can go fanboy on certain subjects. Of course the standard geeky trinity: Comics, movies, and video games will be covered occasionally, but I'll also do rants/reviews/features on things like books, music, and other things that catch my interest.

DND signing on!

Hey everyone! I guess I am the first to introduce myself! My name is Danielle Nicole Denton and yes my initials are DND. How nerdy can that be? Yes I am a real girl and this blog was my idea to get all my nerdy friends together and to share our love for what we are into. I have yet to really find just one blog that I can go to for all my nerdy obsessions but hopefully we can make this blog the perfect place for everyone. I am bug anime fan and love going to conventions in cosplay. I do work for a couple cons so I know the industry pretty good. I play ps3,xbox 360, wii, ds, psp, and all the older games. I currently and selling avon, mostly to help fellow cosplayers with cheaper make up for cons and to keep their skin looking great. ( I have to be a little girly.)
I am studying speech communications and then hopefully majoring in Japanese so I can become a translator. maybe one day I can work for Sony -dreams-. Any ways I won't bore you to death. If you want to know more just comment me I am not afraid to comment back.

ALSO!!!!!!!!!!
Please give us feed back on topics you would liek to be coverd. We are not only here to write about what we love but also to inform and entertain you the reader.
